Codependent Relationships

Next

People go on about codependent relationships and such, but please consider… Ideas like these that become pop psychology concepts are too simplistic and do not take into account the multiplicity of human needs, derived from combinations of nurture and nature, that are nonetheless of benefit to each person in the relationship, especially as one gets older. Someone who needs to be reassured is satisfied by one whose nature is to reassure, and the reassurer is fulfilled by providing security to the reassurance-needing. Someone who takes, on some level or another, needs a giver and vice versa. The taker may be a giver in another respect, and if each give and take in ways each need, then both will be satisfied. Complementarity involves many different roles and needs. This is what makes people compatible.
