This novel, and the fragment of another one, were written a long, long, long time ago. It may not appear here for a while since I am editing it and that’s not exactly pleasurable activity. But, in an uncanny way, many of the themes were later borne out in my own life—willfully or not—including names of key characters and the nature of events, driven by the same reasons and longings.
